GOOD friday

- FEELING AS FUCKED UP AS THIS MENU-
YEA!...Tomorrow is good friday, so goood that i'll have to book in by 2200 and get my 7 hours of sleep for ATP (shooting range) the next day. Good rite..? SAF cares so much about our welfare and well-being. Good rite...? SAF ROXXX ! Another thing about SAF is that its a force which dispatch 'care ler fare' (EXTRASS) to other organisation(s). For example, around 50 of us went down to the padang and transformed ourselves into backdrops for Temasek Poly CMM students' final year project - some NDP wayang , propaganda video clips. We had to act enthusiastic, vibrant and happy while cheering (shouting + waving of arms around) for the whole video shoot. Repetition of the whole process was undeniable as those students 'experimented' with different angles and scenes for the shoots. We wasted almost 2 hours of our rightful book out timings just to help them. What do we get in return? An unconfirmed 1 or 1/2 day off for our 'good' performance.
After the wayang session with TP, i headed to roxy, bought 2 vinyls and ordered 7 more vinyls. Its hard to find trance vinyls in roxy these days. I think everyone gets their records online, which gets delivered right to their doorstep. I'm still in the low-class era, without a credit or debit card, not able to do online shopping.
Had dinner with friends and then headed down to phang's chalet at downtown east. As usual, the rest of them engaged in rounds after rounds of gambling - something which i'm not interested in. It was super boring and so i went off with hercheh at around 10pm. BACK HOME!
Have to wake up earlier tmr to 'shao mu'.
burning with 'desire'
What a week. I don't feel like a soldier man. Where in this world do you find a soldier locking himself in the computer lab and doing posters? Ya, i spent many donkey hours doing up the ndp05 posters.Had to re-edit them time and time again as my 'client' was very particular and we shared different designing sense :( Got the posters printed yesterday and i was quite satisfied with my work. I foresee myself spending more time in the computer room and padang area all the way until ndp05 (august) - more weekends burn. I seriously don't know if this is a blessing in disguise or what ? Anyway, next week will be a damn sad week for me, ATP start next week and i'll be burning my weekends (sat + sun) in the stupid firing range, we also have to go for zero-ing of rifle and IMT during the weekdays. SIAN MAN! On top of that, i'll have to do another SUNDAY COS (tomorrow) - which means another weekend burnt. 2 weekends burnt consecutively already!!! ARGH !! Really no life. Can't do what i want to do :(
Yesterday went night cycling with alvin, we planned to cycle all the way to bukit panjang but unfortunately, our plan failed. The bicycle somehow broke down along the way and so we only managed to cycle to bedok and then back home again. )(*&@#@)#& Right now, i'm listening to Armin van Buuren - ASOT 185 24-02-2005 which i downloaded 2 weeks ago. I like one of the track in the set the most - D-Fuse featuring Jes - Living The Dream (Matthew Dekay Remix). Love the vocals and instruments. Finally get to do what i enjoy - least for awhile.....
Bored day
Drove 50km during IWCD day 2. Travelled from Mandai camp to Seletar camp via BKE then SLE. Boring drive throughout. Nothing to see except traffic traffic and more traffic. Booked out at around 1140am and came home straight.
Listened to Menno De Jong - Intuition 002 (Live on etn.fm) liveset. Tune selection was great, an awesome liveset i should say. Spun on my decks for almost 2 hrs today, rather disappointed with myself (minor offbeats here and there). Will do better next time. Also flipped throught a few pages of my french grammar book, its really hard to pronounce some words even with the help of the dictionary's phonetic transcription. I don't even know if i got them correct. I'm learning a new language the hard way man, no body to teach, only can rely on myself. Right now, i'm still pondering whether to change my mobile phone anot. My current phone will shut off by itself, guess it has to do with the battery's connector pins. This problem has been haunting me for months and is a real nuisance. However, i don't know if its wise to upgrade to a non-camera phone (camp doesn't allow camera phone) now. If i were to upgrade now, there will be a 2 year contract, which means that i'll still be using a non-camera after i ORD. :( How should i go about doing it ? Nevermind, i'll think about it tomorrow.
Islandwide confidence driving Day 01
Boring day. 100km of road driven, mostly on the expressways. We were instructed to drive thru and fro the expressways in order to clock the mileage needed. 2 trainees will inter swap the driver's postion within the 4 driving sessions normally after a short break. As for today and tomorrow, i'll be driving in the manual jeep. On monday, i'll be driving in the auto jeep (the one without any windscreen and cover, juz a bare naked jeep). Driving in an auto jeep makes you look more like a soldier but there's a price you'll have to pay - bare the scorching heat from the sun, no air ventilation in your helmet, tolerate with rain drops splashing onto your face when it rains, civilians staring at you and little kids waving at you (especially when camo-ed on). The task of the leading jeep was tiring, I had to keep looking at the mirrors to make sure the convoy was still visible and attached. I had to slow down and speed up in order to facilitate the convoy movement. On top of these, I still had to bear the naggings of the instructor seated beside me (maybe its to perk them up to stay awake. seated and doing nothing on the vehicle for 200km will make them sleep man). I won't blame him for nagging cause trainees won't outwin trainers in any debate. Every reasons they give will revolve around SAFETY. They're always right. Ya-ya.
Islandwide driving
I've passed my military driving test on 1st attempt (deducted full 10 points, excess >=1 point and i'll fail) ! Tomorrow we'll be doing an islandwide driving (should be a wayang session i guess). Although this is nothing new to me (done it during my survey trainings) but this time round, i'll be the one driving and not my pioneers chauffering me around. It'll be something to look forward to. If everything goes on smoothly, i'll be able to get back to my unit by next tuesday with a VALID MILITARY DRIVING LICENSE. New cupboards and mattresses are awaiting for my arrival. May guard duties and COS duties come later ('ll keep my fingers crossed, hope that BLOODY CSM ?MASTER WHO? won't be that cruel to schedule me for duties after 1 month of lapse from unit).
For the entire month of febuary, i did nothing constructive. Only managed to draft out a few pieces of NDP05 posters, learnt abit of french and learnt how to drive. I've wasted alot of time on sleeping, especially after a day of driving theories, practical lessons and F.U.C.K.I.N.G.S. I always told myself to stay awake, but no matter how hard i tried, i still failed to do so. I think it has to do with my weak mental power and ill disciplined self. What to do? I'm just like that. I also spent alot of money during this month - watched movies (white noise, howl's moving castle), treated my sis to a meal @ pizzahut for her good results, clubbing @ zouk last saturday (spent almost $80 getting myself drunk and crazy :( ), bought a French grammar book (almost $40) and alot more on transportation fees and etc... My saving quota was ruined due to my poorly planned expenditure. Save more money now so it'll be easier during my uni days (pay sch fees, blahblah). Save save save... Save save save... What to do? I'm just a poor soldier - an underpaid soldier . Sai kang ar !!!
